BSOD During Shutdown


The crash took place in the Windows kernel. The only difference in windbg is the faulting moduale is narrowed down as ntkrnlmp.exe (NT Kernal for multi processors) But it is definatly a driver fault. Oh, and I checked the logs in Norton (Intrusion Prevention, Firewall Activities, Unresolved Security Risks, etc.) and they all seem to be fine. There was another minidump folder, but I think that was only for Firefox, I'm not entirely sure. About 7 times out of 10 my Windows 7 machines dumps on shutdown. Please use the same method to disable other hardware: Display adapter, Modem, network adapter, CD-R drive. Note: The display resolution will be changed after disabling the display adapter.  Then, restart your computer. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

I'm just really worried about my computer's security, especially since the computer has been having errors for a long time without me even knowing. If you use USB/Serial - be CERTAIN that it is FTDI's chipset and windows driver for FTDI. That sucks that I have to do a Windows Repair installation, which I have no clue how to do, or a full system restore. Windows 7 Blue Screen Memory Dump and see if it crashes.

Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows.
