Before attempted fixes 13 updates were detected and I selected 11 to install ... I've been trying to download SP 1 for at least a year, never spending the attention and time necessary to achieve that end. I managed to repair it by doing a f12 or f10 .

I did have SP2 installed, but my computer stopped Windows Updates, so I did Toshiba HDD Recovery and installed SP1 again.
