Help With Windows Xp Installation "Asms" Problem. HELP!


Basically, I've tried to do it about any way I can think of. Somehow the hal.dll file and the ntoknrl.exe files did not match and this lead to the error: "Windows could not start because of an error in the software. When I attempted to install windows xp using the burned disc of the original, it said this. no service pack... news

Is a perfectly functioning laptop now a worthless shell? Based on that I would suggest having as few external devices connected as possible. I'm not sure if that illuminates the situation at all.

I believe it is likely that just burning the CD at a lower speed will reduce the errors on the disk and make it easier to read on other CD-ROM drives. As long as the CD drive wasn't in, you can type C:\I386 and it will find the file.
